There are two types of people in Guatemala’s coffee growing business: those who own the farmland and those who do not. For more than 22 years, Nasario has worked as one of the many non-land owning coffee gleaners making .30-.35 per pound…making barely enough to support his family. As a gleaner, he takes the unique approach of performing his work after the first rapid harvest is completed which allows him more time to choose the best beans from the lot. Nasario knew this higher-quality coffee deserved a better price per pound, but had no access to a market that would pay a better price. Until now...
Bean by Bean began its partnership with Nasario in 2007 and we are proud to continue offering his coffee again this year. Soon we will bring you a closer look at how the purchase of Nasario’s Family Harvest is making a real difference.
